- Marine Biological Laboratory, University of Copenhagen, Strandpromenaden 5, DK-3000, Helsingør, Denmark
Nematode species belonging to the subfamily Ethmolaiminae Filipjev & Stekhoven, 1941 are examined. Ethmolaimus De Man, 1880 contains six species which are united by a rounded head with lip region not set-off. Trichethmolaimus Platt, 1982 is regarded synonymous with Ethmolaimus. Paraethmolaimus gen. nov. contains two species which have lip region set-off. Three new species are described; i.e. E. bothnicus sp. nov., E. intermedius sp. nov. and P. appendixocaudatus sp. nov. The type species E. pratensis De Man, 1880 is redescribed. The other four species are briefly discussed; i.e. E. hirsutus (Gerlach, 1956) comb. nov., E. multipapillatus Paramonov, 1926, E. parapratensis Alekseyev & Naumova, 1979 and P. dahli (Gerlach, 1953) comb. nov. A pictorial key is provided to facilitate identification and separation of above eight species.
